A car was hit by a goods train engine under the Tower Nitya Gati Bridge in Karachi’s City Railway police area, causing severe damage to the vehicle while the person inside, identified as Aqeel, remained safe, according to police.
How the accident happened, according to police
City Railway Station House Officer Haseeb Sohel said the incident took place in the parking area of the State Bank near the KBX post under Tower Nitya Gati Bridge, where State Bank employees use the land as a car parking space.
He said Aqeel was a State Bank employee and was parking his car when it reached the railway track. At that point, a goods train engine arrived and hit the vehicle.
According to Sohel, the car was dragged about 20 feet before the engine applied brakes.
Police response and case registered
Railway police reached the scene after being informed of the incident.
Sohel said police registered a case against the citizen sitting in the car under negligence and carelessness provisions and have started investigating the accident.
