The Sindh High Court’s constitutional bench has allowed nursing student Nusrat to appear in an exam and directed Dow University to make the necessary arrangements, while making clear that the permission will remain subject to the final decision in the constitutional petition.
Court directs university to arrange exam participation
According to the petitioner’s lawyer, Muhammad Nawaz Dahri, Nusrat was prevented from taking the exam because of technical reasons, and her future was at stake. He told the court that she is a student in Dow University’s four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing programme, which began in 2021 and was due to be completed in 2024.
The lawyer also said Nusrat had already appeared in the Developmental Psychology paper.
Dow University says it has no objection, with a condition
During the hearing, Dow University’s lawyer said the university had no objection to allowing the student to take the exam temporarily, but said that permission should remain subject to the final outcome of the constitutional petition.
The court directed Dow University to make the necessary arrangements for the student to sit the exam and said the permission would be subject to the final decision in the pending constitutional petition. It also ordered that the matter be fixed along with the constitutional petition for further proceedings.
