Karachi Bus Route R-2 Threatened

A move by the deputy commissioner of Karachi’s Korangi district has raised the possibility of the Peoples Bus Service route R-2 being shut down, according to sources. The issue concerns height barriers planned for Shah Faisal Colony, where the district administration has asked police to install barriers to prevent heavy traffic and reduce accidents.

Height barriers planned in Shah Faisal Colony

According to the source, the Deputy Commissioner of Korangi wrote to district police about installing height barriers in Shah Faisal Colony. The stated purpose is to keep heavy vehicles out and help prevent accidents.

Concern over the 12-foot Red Bus

The source said that if 9-foot-high barriers are installed, the 12-foot-high Red Bus would not be able to pass underneath them. That could make it impossible for the Peoples Bus Service route R-2 to continue on the route.
