Karachi police said a reported robbery involving gold worth Rs15 million in DHA was exposed as an alleged staged incident, and that the driver and one suspect were arrested within 24 hours. Police also said the vehicle and the stolen items were recovered.
Police say the case was linked to a family dispute
According to police, Sahil police received information the previous day that armed suspects in a car had snatched gold and a mobile phone worth Rs15 million from a citizen near Sahil and escaped.
Police said they launched an immediate search operation under SDPO Darakhshan after the report.
CCTV footage and technical investigation led to arrests
Police said CCTV footage and technical investigation helped them arrest one suspect and recover the vehicle and items in less than 24 hours.
Further investigation, police said, revealed that the incident was not an actual robbery but was connected to a family dispute.
In the initial investigation, police said a woman named Ayesha allegedly staged the robbery through her driver, Haider.
